Support Function

Given a set C ∈ R^m, the support function is defined by

σ(y | C ) = sup { y^Tx | x ∈ C}

The analogous function

φ(y | C ) = inf { y^Tx | x ∈ C}

is called the reciprocal support function so that φ(y | C ) = −σ(−y | C ).
